World T20, 13th Match, Super 10 Group 2: India v New Zealand at Nagpur, Mar 15, 2016
New Zealand defeated India by 47 runs in the opening Group 2 Super 10 match of the ICC World Twenty20 in Nagpur.
New Zealand won toss and bat first
New Zealand finish with 126 after winning the toss. India have the advantage of knowing what to get, so they can pace their chase accordingly. I dare say, if New Zealand knew the pitch was going to turn and grip so much, that their top order would have paced the innings differently. New Zealand have three spinners in their ranks but I reckon they needed about 140. Bumrah was outstanding for India, nailing his yorkers and changing his pace. As was Raina. They both finished with figures of 4-0-15-1.
The only team that India have yet to beat in T20s - let's keep the record going and show all the fans here that not only the choice of batting first was right, but playing the three spinners was right too !!! - fingers crossed !!!
I suspect Anderson/Elliot/Milne will all bowl 3-4 overs meaning the spinners are only actually going to need to share 8-10 between them. Which I think is smart.. Considering there probably wont be any swing Boult/Southee would probably be hit all over the park.
