David Warner hit a stupendous 76 while Afghan spinner Rashid Khan claimed 3 for 19 as Sunrisers Hyderabad thumped Gujarat Lions by nine wickets in an IPL match at Hyderabad on Sunday.
Rashid's 3 for 19 saw Sunrisers keep Lions down to 135 for 7 in 20 overs. Warner then slammed an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls as the match ended in 15.3 overs.
All-rounder Moises Henriques (52 not out) added 108 runs for the unbeaten second wicket with Warner.
Warner smashed six boundaries and four huge sixes in his blistering innings. He was especially severe on leg-spinner Tejas Baroka, whom he hit for fours and a massive six. The match ended with Warner lofting Baroka into long-on stands.
With the ball, Rashid ran through Lions top-order dismissing Brendon McCullum (5), Aaron Finch (3) and skipper Suresh Raina (5) in the 5th, 7th and 9th over of the innings.
Dinesh Karthik (30) and Dwayne Smith (37) added 56 runs for the fifth wicket, but the damage had already been done.
