Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner feels his team’s batting order let the team down as SRH went down to Kolkata Knight Riders

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner feels his team’s batting order let the team down as SRH went down to Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator of IPL 2017.
The match at Bangalore’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium was hit by rain, and KKR had to eventually chase down 48 in six overs which they did. Sunrisers Hyderabad had only managed 128 runs for 7 in their 20 overs after KKR bowled first.
“We were 30 runs short. It was quite a tough wicket to bat on. The ball was holding up a bit. It’s been quite a disappointing wicket all season. And they bowled really well on it,” Warner admitted after the match.
“The way we batted wasn’t good enough and six over games can be niggly,” he went on to add.
Nathan Coulter-Nile was brilliant for Kolkata Knight Riders as he claimed 3 for 20. For SRH, Warner (37) and Kane Williamson (24) were the top-scorers.
After the rain, Kolkata Knight Riders lost three wickets in six deliveries — Chris Lynn (7), Yusuf Pathan (0) and Robin Uthappa (1). But, captain Gambhir led from the front with 32 runs.
“We had to come out with positive intent, got three wickets, but we knew they would come hard and it happened,” Warner said of the bizarre end.
Reflecting on the season, he commented, “We were good, as we were last time. We found some good talent, we played some good cricket with bat and ball, whereas last year it was either bat or ball,” he said.
“Thanks to all the people in Hyderabad, without you guys we wouldn’t be out here playing,” he further added.
