It was an embarrassing opening game in the Friends Life t20 2012 as Nottinghamshire eased to a 6-wicket after bundling out hosts Leicestershire for a paltry 96 at the Grace Road in Leicestershire.

It was a great toss to win for Nottinghamshire and they put the hosts to bat first. After an early double blow from pacer Darren Pattinson, another pacer Steve Mullaney joined the party taking 4 for 19 in his 4 overs. As a result, Leicestershire could never got going and by the 18th over got bowled out for 96. Not a single batsman crossed 20 for the homeside.

Nottinghamshire took 13 overs to reach the target of 97 which they did so losing four wickets. Opener Michael Lumb guided the run chase with an unbeaten 25 from 32 balls. Skipper Adam Voges chipped in with a cameo of 21 from 15 balls. For the hosts, Skipper Matthew Hoggard claimed respectable figures of 4-1-25-2.
