Taylor smashed 7 sixes and 8 fours in his innings while smashing 28 runs off the bowling of Shoaib Akhtar and 30 runs off Abdur Razzak in the death. New Zealand scored 13 sixes and 18 fours while Jacob Oram and Ross Taylor put on a partnership of 85 off 22 balls at the end. Martin Guptil added 57 at the beginning of the innings.

Umar Gul was the pick of the bowlers getting three wickets for 32 runs off his ten overs with one maiden. Akhtar went for 70 runs in nine overs for one wicket while Razzak went for 49 off just four overs.
