Chasing a score of 162 runs, Sri Lanka made a healthy start to their inning. Though they lost Kushal Perera early in the inning but 70 runs partnership between Dilshan and Jayasuriya brought them into the game. Dilshan scored 52 runs off 36 balls to bring the chase on the track and he was well supported by Jayasuriya who scored 30. But once Dwayne Bravo dismissed Jayasuriya, Sri Lanka’s inning collapsed. Andre Russell took an outstanding running catch to get rid off Jayasuriya. Chandimal was soon caught by Carter off Ravi Rampaul and in the same over, five balls later, Dilshan was dismissed. This reduced Sri Lanka to 102 for four in 14 overs. Sri Lanka lost their last nine wickets for just 46 runs.

Dwayne Bravo took four wickets and was adjudged man of the match for his all round performance and Ravi Rampaul took three wickets in his comeback game.

Earlier, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. Their openers made a aggressive start to the inning and added 62 runs for the first wicket in quick time. Then West Indies lost three wickets in quick succession and this down the run rate significantly. Dwayne Bravo and Dinesh Ramdin played a good hand in the middle overs to take West Indies to a respectable score.
