India vs West Indies at Perth (December 6, 1991) This was the first match of the Benson & Hedges World Series. West Indies won the toss and inserted India in to bat. Thanks to some wonderful bowling from Ambrose, Marshall and Cummins, India were cleaned up for 126. Opener Ravi Shastri top scored for India with 33 from 110 balls. India responded in brilliant fashion and had West Indies in deep trouble at 76 for 8. Ambrose (17) and Cummins (24) took them close before Tendulkar had the latter caught at slip to tie the game. Subroto Banerjee picked up three wickets in his debut match.

India vs Zimbabwe at Indore (November 18, 1993) A match played as part of the Hero Cup, India batted first and posted a fighting 248 for 5 on board. Opener Manoj Prabhakar starred with 91 while Vinod Kambli and Mohammed Azharuddin made 50s each. Stephen Peall picked up three wickets for Zimbabwe. Andy Flower’s 56 set Zimbabwe on their way, and some crucial contributions from the lower order Andy Waller (32), Guy Whittal (33) and Ali Shah (37) helped kept them alive. Heath Streak’s run out for 11 saw the game being tied. Prabhakar picked up three wickets.

India vs Zimbabwe at Paarl (January 27, 1997) This time Zimbabwe batted first and courtesy Alistair Campbell’s 61 posted 236 for 8 on board. Prasad was India’s best bowler with 3 for 49. India struggled in reply as Eddo Brandes claimed five wickets. Robin Singh’s 48 kept them in the hunt, but he was run out of the penultimate ball as India were kept down to 236.

India vs England at Bangalore (February 27, 2011) This was the high-scoring World Cup match. India batted first and amassed 338 courtesy Tendulkar’s magnificent 120. Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh also got half-centuries before India collapsed as Tim Bresnan grabbed five wickets. England’s reply was led by their skipper Andrew Strauss, who made a sensational 158. He was well supported by Ian Bell who contributed 69. England batted out their 50 overs and ended up on 338 for 8. Zaheer Khan picked up three wickets for India.

India vs England at Lord’s (September 11, 2011) India batted first in this game and put up an impressive 280 for 5 with Suresh Raina making 84 and Dhoni an unbeaten 78. England needed 271 from 48.5 overs. Ravi Bopara made 96 before being caught off the last ball with the score reading 270 for 8. RP Singh ended with 3 for 59.

India vs Sri Lanka at Adelaide (February 14, 2012) Sri Lanka batted first in this game and put up 236 for 9 courtesy Dinesh Chandimal’s 81; R. Vinay Kumar picked up three wickets for India. Gautam Gambhir led India’s reply with 91 but it was Dhoni who helped India tie the game, with an unbeaten 58, carving the last ball for three.

India vs New Zealand at Auckland (January 25, 2014) Martin Guptill’s 111 and Kane Williamson’s 65 took New Zealand to 314 in this match. India, after crumbling to 184 for 6, then recovered courtesy Ashwin’s 65 and Jadeja’s unbeaten 66, the latter getting 17 off the final over to tie the match.
