West Indies made everyone believe that they are capable of registering a series win in England with an amazing win in the first test. But their batsmen faltered while saving the second test on day 5. Coming into this test, they are fretting on a couple of their bowlers’ fitness in the form of Gabriel and Joseph. Also, the positions of Hope and Campbell are uncertain as they haven’t provided meaningful contributions with the bat this series. Hope might just get another chance as he has shown in the past that he is capable of batting in these kind of conditions. Holder again has to lead from the front with the ball and also and is also is expected to provide support with the bat.
England, on the other hand, are coming of from a thumping win. Their bowlers as well as batsmen are in form. Sibley has been reassuring at the top, but England might want more from Burns and Root. Superman Ben Stokes is continuously upping his game and has reached new levels of match winning consistency. They have the problem of plenty, as the bowlers who sat out the second test, Anderson and Jofra Archer are set to comeback, but that means two of the match winning trio (Broad, Woakes, Curran) have to sit out of this test. It will most probably be Woakes and Curran who might be benched as one simply cannot drop Anderson or Archer.
So, all in all, we are set for another thriller, one would say that England have the upper hand in these conditions, but it isn’t advisable to underestimate Holder’s men, as they have time and time again “surprised” England.
