India and Bangladesh are all set to feature in the first-ever Day/Night Test to be played in India from November 22-26 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Reports are emerging that the Indian team management has requested the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) to organize a training session for the hosts under lights. Indore to going to host the first Test of the series, a day game, from November 14 onwards.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, MPCA head curator Samandar Singh Chouhan confirmed, “The Indian Team will be practicing with the pink ball under lights from 5 pm to 6 pm today (Tuesday) against a black sight-screen. We have got this request and have made the preparations accordingly.”

As per the report, SG has already delivered the first batch of pink balls to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It must be noted that the Kolkata Test will be the first one to feature SG pink balls. All the previous D/N Tests featured Kookaburra and Dukes pink balls.

Meanwhile, speaking to BCCI.tv, Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane expressed excitement over the challenge to face the new ball. "I am very excited personally. It is a new challenge. I don't know how it will turn out but we will get an idea when we have a couple of practice sessions. Only then we will get an idea of how much the pink ball swings and how it works session wise.

“Fans perspective wise also it will be interesting. I think as a batsman lateral movement will be there and it will be best if you play late, that is my personal idea. Adapting shouldn't be a problem," he stated.

New BCCI President Sourav Ganguly announced last month that the Bangladesh Cricket Board had agreed to play the first-ever Day/Night Test in India.

"It's a good development. Test cricket needs this push. I and my team were bent on it and thanks to Virat (Kohli) also, he agreed," Ganguly told the Press Trust of India, after the development.

Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo speaking to the media in Dhaka had added, “I was a coach and the players think it’s a great opportunity. It’ll be a massive occasion under lights at Eden Gardens. So we’re very excited. We haven’t played a pink-ball Test but neither have India. It will be a new experience for both teams."
