New ball bowlers Pankaj Singh and Rituraj Singh bowled defending Champions Rajasthan into the Finals of the Ranji Trophy Championship 2011/12. Rajasthan defeated Haryana by 64 runs today on the third day itself in what turned out to be a very low scoring Semi-Final at the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Rohtak.
On the third day, Haryana resumed play at 15 for 2 after being asked to chase a modest target of 185. The hosts already losing a couple of wickets yesterday in the run chase folded quickly to 120 all out in 48.5 overs a few minutes after the lunch break. Only four players managed to score in two digits with the highest scorer being Sachin Rana with 25.
Rituraj Singh finished with a rich match haul of 12 for 92 as he got 7 wickets in the first innings and a five-wicket haul in the second innings. Pankaj Singh who was part of the Indian Squad in the 2007/08 Australia tour did his part taking four wickets while the third pacer Sumit Mathur picked up one wicket to bowl Rajasthan into a second consecutive Ranji Trophy Final. Rajasthan most probably could meet Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy Finals.
