It was a decent day for cricket at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai as about 72 overs were possible. This was after the first day’s play was washed out completely without a single ball bowled and the second day producing 31.2 overs due to bad weather in Chennai. East Zone resuming Day 3 at 64 for 3 was bowled out for a modest total of 232 for 5 in 101.5 overs. Central Zone in reply are 12 for no loss in 2 overs.

The stars of Day 3 were the 23-year-old Jharkhand boy Ishank Jaggi, who remained unbeaten with 100 (from 251 balls with 12 fours) and Madhya Pradesh off-spinner Jalaj Saxena, who finished with 5 for 62 in 28.5 overs.
