This Test significantly resemble with the first Test at Abu Dhabi where England came closer to win the Test after four days of slow Cricket and here too it was looking like Pakistan will clinch an easy win on the fifth day of the Test but England had almost prevented that. But the England inning ended by a rash shot of Adil Rashid who played magnificently for his 172-balls 61-runs. Rashid can hardly be blamed for his shot as he carried English hopes alive for six and half overs of safety. England’s tail batted brilliantly but they still ended up in losing side. So the match concluded as Pakistan defeated England by 178 runs to take 1-0 crucial lead in the three match series.

England were so close to drawing the Test match but they had left too much to do and not enough batsmen to do. England had lost half of their side for just 163 runs within 72 overs and then they still had to negotiate about 72 overs more. EarlIer, Pakistan gave England 491 runs to win the 2nd Test match but Pakistani bowlers have been on the top in the morning session of the last day of the match. Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Babar has cleaned up the both last night batters, Joe Root and Johny Bairstow. Pakistani spin attack has put England on the back foot with their tight line and length, Dangerous looking Root was dismissed by old gun Zulfiqar Babar with the help of Younis Khan, while Bairstow was clean bowled by Yasir Shah with a googly. Joe Root made struggling 72 runs. Visitors will be disappointed with their middle order batsmen effort. They never looked comfortable against spinners and only tried to block each delivery. In the process they sometimes even tried to manufacture some shots out of nowhere against good deliveries. Mark Wood batted well for the visitors where he denied 95 balls for his 29 runs.

The third Test at Sharjah will start on Sunday. There will be pressure on Ian Bell going into the next Test as he has not contributed significantly with the bat at the top order. English think tank will also have to review their plan to open with Moeen Ali. Moeen has not scored even one half century in four innings where he opened the inning. With most of the Pakistani batsmen looking in form, now it will be a huge challenge for the visitors to rethink their strategy going into the third and final Test. Alex Hales has been warming the benches so he would like to get a place in the squad.
