DLF IPL 2012: Deccan Chargers lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets in Match 29 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack

Deccan Charger’s shocking IPL 5 continued as they crashed to their fifth consecutive defeat to remain right at the bottom of the points table. Their latest defeat came against Kolkata Knight Riders who have now moved into the third position with four wins. KKR needing a modest target of 127 on a slow low pitch at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack almost made heavy weather of it but got to a 5-wicket victory with one full over to spare.

There was nothing brilliant about the KKR batting except for a couple of 30s from Skipper Gautam Gambhir (30 from 28 balls with 4 fours) and Manoj Tiwary (30* from 28 balls with 2 fours) which was enough to overhaul the target of 127. Left arm spinner Ankit Sharma gave hope to Deccan Chargers with his figures of 1 for 19 in 4 overs.

Brett Lee got the Man of the MatchThe 29th match of IPL 5 was off to a delayed start due to rain. Play started an hour late but fortunately it was going to be a full 20-20 contest with no overs docked. KKR won the toss and asked Deccan Chargers to bat first. Although it was a decent position at 82 for 2 in 11.3 overs, the Chargers struggled to get going in their second half to finish at 126 for 7. Opener Shikhar Dhawan consumed 50 balls for his 50 which came with 4 fours and a six. Brett Lee was awesome for KKR with 1 for 15 in 4 overs which got him the Man of the Match. Sunil Narine and L Balaji bowled well too taking two wickets each.
