India defeated West Indies 2-0 in the four-Test match series that concluded recently. Cricwaves takes a look at the top performers in the series.

Ravichandran Ashwin: The off-spinning all-rounder, without doubt, was the standout performer in the Tests. He was on top of his game with both the bat and the ball. He was the top wicket-taker in the series with 17 wickets at an average of 23.17, a strike rate of 46.2 and an impressive economy rate of 3. Ashwin finished with two five-wicket hauls in the series. He had a best bowling figures of 7 for 83 in an innings and 7 for 126 in a match.

Ashwin was equally successful with the bat as well. He finished with an impressive tally of 235 runs with two hundreds at an average of 58.75 He made 113 in the first Test and 118 in the third. He was a rather straightforward choice for the man of the series.

Ajinkya Rahane: The Mumbai batsman was consistent once again. He was the second highest run-getter in the series after Virat Kohli (251) with 243 runs. Rahane finished with an excellent average of 121.50 with one hundred and one fifty. He had a highest score of 108 not out, and innings which again come when India needed it, proving his worth once more.

Lokesh Rahul: The opener once again made a mark when he got a chance. In just three innings, he totalled an impressive tally of 236 runs with one century and one fifty at a highly brilliant average of 78.66. His scores in the series were 158, 50 and 28, which means he spent time in the middle every time he went out to bat. It will be difficult to keep him out of the side for too long even when the regular openers are fit.

Wriddhiman Saha: The wicket-keeper bat made some crucial contributions for India with the bat lower down the order, which came at significant moments in the game. He compiled a total of 205 runs at an average of 51.25 with one hundred. Saha made scores of 40, 47 and 104 in the series, and was decent behind the stumps too.

Mohammed Shami: The Indian pacer was decent on comeback even though not in full flow. He ended the series with 11 wickets at an average of 25.81, an economy rate of 3.05 and a strike rate of 50.7. He picked up 4 for 66 in the opening Test and 3 for 15 in the Test. He picked up two wickets in each Test at Kingston, but the potency was missing.
