South Africa defeated Australia by four wickets in a high-scoring encounter at Kingsmead in Durban on Wednesday. Here are some interesting stats from match.

South Africa's chase of 372 is the second-highest chase of all time in one-day internationals. They Proteas, as is known, also hold the record for the highest successful chase in ODI, at Johannesburg a decade back.

David Miller smashed an unbeaten 118 from 79 balls with 10 fours and six sixes. This was his third ODI hundred.

South Africa were 217 for 5 in the 32nd over when their last recognised batsman JP Duminy was dismissed.

Miller however found an unexpected ally in Andile Phehlukwayo. The two added 107 off 70 balls for the seventh-wicket as South Africa turned the tables. Phehlukwayo's contribution was an unbeaten 42 from 39 balls.

Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla set South Africa on their way with 70 from 49 and 45 from 30 respectively.

South Africa though lost their way in between as they crumbled from 140 for 1 to 217 for 5 before finding their way back again.

Bowling once again proved to be Australia's Achilles Heel. The inexperienced bowling failed to defend 371. Travis Head was the most expensive bowler conceding 31 in his three overs at over 10. Mitchell Marsh was the most economical, but he too went at 6.10 in his 10 overs.

In fact, as the runs scored by the batsmen suggest, this wasn't a match for bowlers from either side. Although he picked up two wickets, Dale Steyn conceded 96 runs in his 10 overs, the most ever given by a South African bowler in the format. Kagiso Rabada came close as he ended with 1 for 86.

For Australia, David Warner and Aaron Finch featured in a great start, scoring 110 in 13 overs.

Warner went on to make 117 from 107 balls while skipper Steven Smith made 108 from 107. As a pair they added 124, taking the score to 234 before the partnership was broken.

With a great foundation in place, Australia blasted 71 runs in the last five overs.

Five batsmen crossed fifty in the match -- de Kock, Miller, Finch, Smith and Warner. Of them, three were converted into hundreds -- Miller, Warner and Smith.
