The opening pair put up 224 runs which is the highest partnership for any wicket in the Asia Cup history and also the second-highest partnership for any wicket against India. The previous highest opening stand in the Asia Cup was held by the Pakistani pair of Younis Khan and Shoaib Malik who put on 223 for the 3rd wicket against Hong Kong in Asia Cup 2004.
  • Mohammad Hafeez went onto score his 4th ODI Century.
  • For Nasir Jamshed, it was a maiden ODI Century.
  • Boom Boom Shahid Afridi crossed 7000 runs in ODIs during his short stay at the wicket. Afridi was playing in his 341st ODI and is now more of a bowler than a dangerous opening batsman he was during his prime.
  • It was the 47th ODI fifty for the 34-year-old Younus Khan.
  • The 38-year-old Sachin Tendulkar scored his 96th ODI fifty.
  • For Virat Kohli, it was a 11th ODI Century. This score of 183 is his career best now. It was Kohli’s third ODI Century at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Two of those have come in the ongoing Asia Cup 2012.
  • Virat Kohli with his 183 equaled the efforts of Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni who also came up with the same score. Ganguly scored 183 against Sri Lanka at Taunton in 1999 while MS Dhoni got his 183* against Sri Lanka in 2005.
  • This was Virat Kohli’s 1st ODI century against Pakistan.
  • Kohli with his 183 is now the record holder for the highest individual score against Pakistan in an ODI going past the great Brian Lara who scored 156 in 2005.
  • The 24-year-old Rohit Sharma scored his 12th ODI fifty. This was his 3rd fifty against Pakistan in ODIs.
  • India achieved its highest successful run chase of 330. The previous highest run chase that was successfully achieved was the 326 against England in the Natwest Trophy 2002.

This was the highest run chase successfully achieved against Pakistan in ODI history; the previous best was 316 by Australia in Lahore in 1998.
