Somerset crushed Warwickshire by 63 runs in the Midlands/Wales/West Group match at the County Ground in Taunton.
Asked to bat first after losing the toss, Somerset put up a powerful total of 191 for 6 thanks to an explosive knock of 69 (from 34 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes) from their South African opener Richard Levi. Another South African – Albie Morkel chipped in with 38 from 30 balls with 3 fours and a six.
Warwickshire in their run chase has a disastrous batting collapse to get bundled out for 128 in 18.5 overs. The top scorer of their innings was Skipper and also opener – Varun Chopra, who made 37 from 39 balls. Batting down the order, Steffan Piolet provided some late entertainment with his unbeaten 26 from 14 balls with 3 fours and a six.
For Somerset, South African Alfonso Thomas led the bowling attack taking 3 for 17 while New Zealand leg spinner Max Walker bowled superbly taking 4 for 16 in 4 overs. Walker, who picked up the wickets of the specialist batsmen at the top got the Player of the Match award.
