Sri Lanka led by Dinesh Chandimal defeated Bangladesh in the Only T20I between the two sides at Pallekele on Sunday evening.

Asked to bat first after losing the toss, Sri Lanka led by a lovely knock of 64 from 44 balls by left-handed opener Kushal Perera piled up 198 for 5 in 20 overs. Kushal struck 5 fours and 4 sixes. Sri Lanka had a slight stutter losing wickets but the lower middle order did a good job with the trio of Angelo Mathews (30* from 27 balls), Jeevan Mendis (37* from 17 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes) and Thisara Perera (22* from 7 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes) coming up with cameos.

Bangladesh in reply did threaten to chase down the tall target with Mohammad Ashraful providing the impetus with a 27-ball 43 (with 4 fours and 2 sixes). Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim scored 39 from 29 balls (3 fours and a six), Mahmudllah scored 31 from just 18 balls and Momimul Haque scored 26* from 16 balls but none of them could take Bangladesh home. The Tigers settled with 181 for 7 to lose the match by 17 runs.
