The ICC Champions Trophy 2013 will be contested by eight teams that which are seeded and divided into two groups. Each team play every other team in its group once. Following the group stage, the top two teams from each group progresses to the semi-finals, where the winner of Group A plays the runner up of Group B (in the 1st semi-final) and the winner of Group B plays the runner up of Group A (in the 2nd semi-final). The winners of the semi-finals contest the Final. The ICC intends that the 2013 Champions Trophy will be the last (7 th from 1998-2013), with its place in the cricketing calendar taken by a new ICC World Test Championship in 2017.

England are set to host the first World Test CHAMPIONSHIP in 2017 and the second one will be hosted by India in 2021.
