The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Tuesday, reportedly told the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises that this year’s edition has been "postponed indefinitely". The report came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially extended the lockdown in the country over the Coronavirus pandemic to May 3.

As widely predicted, the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to be cancelled in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic that is getting worse by the day. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier postponed the start of the tournament from March 29 to April 15. However, under the current circumstances, it is highly unlikely that the IPL will go ahead this year.

In the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak causing panic across the globe, a new report has now emerged claiming Cricket Australia may advice Australian players to forego their lucrative IPL contracts. The 2020 edition of the IPL has already been postponed from March 29 to April 15 following the rise of COVID --19.

The IPL Governing Council will meet tomorrow March 14 to decide on the fate of IPL 2020 in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak throughout the world. As per the latest development, foreign players will not be able to feature in the tournament till April 15 due to suspension of visas in India.
