Just the 34 overs were possible on the penultimate day of the Duleep Trophy Final between Central Zone and East Zone at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Central Zone resuming Day 4 at 12 for no loss were at 74 for 2 in 36 overs before no further play was possible. Opener Tanmay Srivastava remained unbeaten on 46 (from 126 balls with 5 fours). Bengal’s left-arm spinner Iresh Saxena picked up the two wickets to fall for the East Zone.

As far as the match situation is concerned, it is at the dead end with Central Zone needing 159 more runs to get into the crucial and decisive first innings lead. For that to happen or for East Zone to wrap up Central below 232, the teams would need sufficient time and that depends on the Chennai weather.
