Praveen, who had gone wicketless on a rain-affected day one on Thursday and had been pulled up for failing to capitalise on favourable conditions, came back with a vengeance on day two to make his presence felt in the milestone Test match.

He first picked up the wicket of overnight batsman Jonathan Trott, trapping him lbw for 70. He then had Ian Bell (45), Eoin Morgan (0) and Mathew Prior (71) caught behind by MS Dhoni and then trapped Stuart Broad lbw for a duck to make it a five-for performance.

Praveen finished with figures of 5-106 from 40.3 overs as England declared their innings at 447-8.

Meanwhile, Kevin Pietersen smashed an unbeaten 202 to put his name up on the Lord's Honours Board for the fifth time. This was his third double hundred and his first at Lord's.
