After Bangalore, it was the turn of cricket fans in Nagpur to be baton charged by the police. Hundreds of fans had lined up outside the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium on Tuesday to buy tickets for Saturday's World Cup match between India and South Africa but were caned by the police when they became disorderly.
Nagpur police officers, however, refused to comment on the matter.
When pressed for a reply, a police officer said mild chaos was bound to happen when such a huge number of people jostle for tickets.
Police had on February 24 caned thousands of fans at Bangalore's Chinnaswamy Stadium when they had gone berserk after being told that all the 7,000 tickets for the public at the 40,000 capacity stadium for the match had been sold out.
