Shaun Marsh is all set to prove his fitness for the Boxing Day Test against India at the MCG. The 28-year-old left hander has decided to do that by turning up for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash Leage match at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne today. Ironically, the left hander had chosen the 20-over-format to test his fitness but this is his only chance to play in a competitive game ahead of the first Test.
Shaun Marsh, who is the son of former Test Cricketer Geoff Marsh was out of action for a few days because of a back injury which he sustained during the South African tour. The 28-year-old has so far played only 3 Tests in which he has scored a century and a fifty each. With two 100s and 8 50s in 36 ODIs, Shaun Marsh is certainly in the need of cementing his place in the Australian set-up.
Australia are keen to have Shaun Marsh at no.3 in their batting line-up and should he sit out on the bench due to fitness reasons, then there could be the inclusion or rather debut for all-rounder Daniel Christian, who will come in at no.6.
