We had an exciting match in Dubai as SRH youngsters Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma displayed some excellent batting after a mid-innings collapse. Jadeja and Dhoni threatened to take the game away but SRH bowlers maintained their calm to win the match by 7 runs.

It has now been a pattern where CSK leave too much to do at the end while chasing. Today was no different as CSK started their hunt of 165. Watson looked all at sea against Bhuvneshwar and lost his timber to the premier Indian swing bowler for a solitary run. The score at the end of the first three overs read a sorry 7-1. Faf du Plessis showed a lot of intent as he watched Ambati Rayudu get bowled off a jaffa from Natarajan. Faf took on Natarajan and smoked him for a couple of boundaries down the ground, but was involved in a weird run out later that over.

Kedar Jadhav came and went without troubling the scorers too much as MSD and Jadeja joined the crease. Both took a lot of time to get going as the required rate was climbing up continuously. Dhoni’s tactics were under the scrutiny yet again as he promoted Jadeja ahead of Bravo and Curran. They tried to play out Rashid without giving him any wickets. With the required rate nearly 15 per over, Jadeja finally went for the big hits as he targeted Natarajan and also got to his maiden IPL half century in the process. He got out immediately after that as Curran joined MS. Curran smashed his first ball for six as that target at the end of 18 overs was 44 runs from 12 balls.

Bhuvi pulled out from bowling after just one ball as Khaleel finished the 19th, giving away 16 runs. MS was also struggling out there with the hot and humid conditions but gave it his all. 18 year old Samad came to defend 28 runs off the last over against the MSD. He however, maintained his calm and didn’t let the pressure take the better of him as his side won the match by 7 runs, with MS remaining unbeaten at 47 of 36 balls.

Earlier in the match, SRH got off to a rare bad start as Bairstow was done by a beautiful inswinger by Deepak Chahar. Pandey came in at his usual number three and started playing his shots. He was looking at his aggressive best while Warner took his time early on. Just as Warner started going, Pandey lost his wicket against the run of play as he tried to smash Shardul Thakur to mid off but found Sam Curran instead. Williamson joined Warner at the crease.

At the 10 over mark, SRH were placed at 63-2, and decided to go for the big shots. Warner, who had just gotten a boundary off Chawla on the previous delivery, went for the biggie again but was caught brilliantly at long on by Faf. Williamson was run out unfortunately the very next ball as all seemed lost for SRH.

Now it was all up to the youth of SRH who had been untested thus far. And boy did they put on a show. Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma were at the crease and took a few balls to get settled in. But after that, it was absolute carnage as Abhishek and Priyam took on Jadeja and Curran respectively as CSK bowlers were put under the pump. The fact that Jadeja and Thakur dropped simple catches didn’t help their cause either. Priyam got to a marvelous half century with a strike rate of nearly 200 as SRH put up a slightly above par total of 164-5.
