Final Session, Day 3

Australia bowlers finally got rewarded as India folded to 405 all out in 108.1 overs just at the stroke of Stumps on the third day. The lead gained by the visitors is a very slender one of 23 runs. The two well set batsmen - Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina both missed out on their respective centuries just like Rahul Dravid. For the Aussies, Mitchell Johnson captured his 6th five-wicket haul.

It was after Drinks that Sachin Tendulkar got out playing an overconfident flick shot off part timer Marcus North which he missed to get lbw having shuffled far too across the stumps. Tendulkar left after getting to 98 (from 189 balls with 13 fours). Along with Raina, he put up a fifth wicket stand of 124 runs. A few overs later, Mitchell Johnson picked up two wickets in two balls with MS Dhoni given controversially out to an unconvincing low slip catch and the next ball Harbhajan Singh edging an outswinger to leave India at 382 for 7.

India's problem was that VVS Laxman was having a back strain and could come out to bat only at no.10! Suresh Raina left the park after missing a low skidder from Johnson which trapped him lbw. The left hander scored 86 from 128 balls with 14 fours. Nathan Hauritz finished the innings taking two wickets in his comeback spell and the last man to fall was Laxman who edged a straighter one to slip.

Afternoon Session, Day 3

Another fruitful session meant that India progressed smoothly towards 280 for 4 in 77 overs by Tea on Day 3. Sachin Tendulkar with 64 (from 131 balls with 9 fours) is taking the game forward for India in the company of Suresh Raina who has looked very attractive so far with his 26. Australia could manage only a single wicket in this afternoon session when Rahul Dravid poked at a widish reversing outswinger from Bollinger to be caught behind. Dravid scored 77 from 134 balls with 12 fours.

India have brought the deficit down to 148 runs and they have got 34 more overs to see in today's play.

Morning Session, Day 3

Overnight batsman Rahul Dravid batted through the morning session on Day 3 to steer India to 191 for 3 in 49 overs. Dravid moved onto 62 (from 106 balls with 10 fours) while Sachin Tendulkar is batting well on 21 (from 38 balls with 2 fours). In the 28 overs of play, India collected 81 runs losing only the wicket of night watchman Ishant Sharma who hung in there efficiently for 56 balls to score.

It was only after an hour that the Aussies could dislodge Ishant Sharma after he misjudged an inswinger from Doug Bollinger to which he offered no shot to get bowled. India are now trailing behind by only 237 runs and reverse swing has been the only factor that is posing a challenge to the batsmen.
