Defending Champions Kolkata Knight Riders eased to an 8-wicket win with 16 balls to spare against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens. KKR picked up what is only their fourth win of this season in 11 matches! Rajasthan Royals despite losing big time tonight are holding the third position with 12 points in 10 games.

It was a strange innings of sorts from the Rajasthan Royals batting first after winning the toss. The Royals’ batsmen seemed to be determined in playing out as many dot balls and confine to just the singles. There was no momentum at all in the Royals’ innings and they eventually laboured to get to 132 for 6.

Sanju Samson was the top scorer for Rajasthan Royals with a 36-ball 40. Shane Watson was the next top scorer with a run-a-ball 35. Sunil Narine was the pick of the bowlers for KKR conceding only 20 off his 4 overs.

The run chase for the hosts was set up by an opening stand of 41 with Manvinder Bisla chipping in with a 25-ball 29. The match was wrapped up by an unbroken stand of 78 between Jacques Kallis (33* from 30 balls) and Yusuf Pathan (49* from 35 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes).
