England won the 1st ODI at Southampton against Australia courtesy of a brilliant unbeaten 103 from 85 balls from left handed Eoin Morgan. The hosts chasing a target of 268 captured the first of the ODI Series 1-0 with a 4-wicket win with 24 balls to spare. All was not well for England after they slipped to a shaky 97 for 4 in 20 overs before Morgan got things back into shape along with Luke Wright (36). The duo put on 95 runs for the 5th wicket. Morgan with 16 fours in his splendid knock ensured that he finished the game by staying right till the end. Australia opting to bat first after winning the toss were restricted to 267 for 7. Michael Clarke, the no.4 of the Aussies top scored with 87 from 97 balls. The Man of the Match award went obviously for Eoin Morgan.
