Dale Steyn picked up a rich haul of 8 for 94 to bowl South Africa to a crushing 163-run win in the first Test against West Indies at Port of Spain.

Dale Steyn picked up a rich haul of 8 for 94 to bowl South Africa to a crushing 163-run win in the first Test against West Indies at Port of Spain. SA batting first after winning the toss were helped to a modest total of 352 by triple half centuries from AB de Villiers (68), Ashwell Prince (57) and Mark Boucher (69). There was a consolation five-wicket haul for left arm spinner Sulieman Benn who toiled hard bowling 47 overs. West Indies in reply were bundled out for a paltry 102 with Steyn taking 5 for 29 in 14 overs and Morne Morkel with 4 for 19 in 13 overs.

The visitors after taking a huge lead declared their second innings at 206 for 4 to leave West Indies with a massive target of 457. For SA, Graeme Smith top scored in the second innings with 90. The West Indies second innings saw Chris Gayle providing some fightback with his 73 but the hosts crumbled to 293 all out.
