Former Pakistani cricket skipper, Shahid Afridi, has requested Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, to resolve the cricket matters, stressing that the issue may otherwise get ugly and out of control.

In response to Afridi’s declaration of retirement to the media and his offensive remarks regarding Pakistan Cricket Board’s officials, the board issued him a show cause notice on Tuesday.

PCB also suspended his central contract with the board and also held back all his payments. A media release from the board revealed that the way Afridi announced his retirement included some breaches of his contract.
According to a PCB media release, Afridi breached Clause 2.1.4 of the Central Contract, as he announced his retirement to the media without consultation with the cricketing authorities.

In addition, by giving the weary statements, the player has also violated Clause 4.4 which deals with media obligations.
In the wake of all these violations, the player is now supposed to provide explanations to the cricketing bodies regarding his unpleasant comments within seven days. The non-objection certificates granted to players have also been cancelled.

Afridi will not be allowed to play the twenty20 tournament with Hampshire and will also miss the inaugural season of the Sri Lankan Premier League since PCB has forbidden the cricketer to play abroad.

While talking to reporters in Hampshire, Afridi said that playing under his seniors has never been an issue for him but he can’t compromise on his self-respect.

He added that he has been ignoring the conspiracy against him for a long period, but could not go with it anymore.

The former flamboyant batsman also revealed some politics going on in the board. He said that he has never violated the code of conduct during international tours and there had been some rumours around regarding his replacement.

The player indicated that the way he has been treated is the result of the truth he has revealed about the board’s members.
Afridi also indicated that there are members in the board’s committee who just want to use their power to hire their own people.
The big-hitter said that he can rejoin cricket only if every person lives up to his own work.
