The Melbourne Cricket Ground, the venue for the upcoming Boxing Day Test match has a new sight to it - which is a bronze statue of Shane Warne, one of the greatest ever bowler ever in the history of Cricket! The statue was unveiled this morning by the President of the Melbourne Cricket Club - Paul Sheahan.
The statue which depicts Shane Warne in his early playing days looks a lot different from the Shane Warne of today who looks very trim and is still playing cricket in the ongoing Big Bash League for the Melbourne Stars. The 300kg weight massive bronze statue was sculpted by Louis Lauman. The statue unveiling ceremony that was held today in Melbourne was attended by Shane Warne himself, his three children and also his girl friend and British Model Liza Hurley.
The other cricketers whose statues are already there at the Parade of Champions oustide the MCG are Sir Don Bradman, Keith Miller and Dennis Lillee. With 708 wickets in 145 Tests and having given so many sleepless nights to many batsmen in the world, Shane Warne truly deserves all the honour.
