Mahela Jayawardene is the Man of the Match
Angelo Mathews: It feels great. The bowlers set the tone for us. Dilshan was brilliant, Mahela and Sanga showed how to bat in these conditions. With two left-handers and Moeen liking faster bowlers, I opened with Dilshan. All the bowlers came into the groove and performed well. The fielding has picked up in the last 2 games. We still can improve.
Alastair Cook: I thought it was a good toss to win. I was not sure if I made the right decision in the end. Sri Lanka outplayed us in all three aspects. However, toss alone does not decide the game. You have to try and make things happen. They played really well. Sanga and Mahela are absolute class and they took the game away. It has been a tough few days, with the rain as well. It will be good to get out of Colombo and start again. Credit to Sri Lanka. It is a 7-match series and we can bounce back. |
