Indian Company Mahindra & Mahindra has come forward to become the Title Sponsors of the Sri Lankan Premier League. The tournament will be henceforth titled as the Mahindra Sri Lanka Premier League.

Indian Company Mahindra & Mahindra has come forward to become the Title Sponsors of the Sri Lankan Premier League. The tournament will be henceforth titled as the Mahindra Sri Lanka Premier League. Mahindra & Mahindra is a leading SUV manufacturer based in India. Ironically although the Title of the Tournament is being sponsored by an Indian Company and some of the franchisees taking part are owned by Indian companies, none of the Indian crickets are going to feature in the tournament because of restrictions from the BCCI.

Mahindra Sri Lanka Premier LeagueThe Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL 2012) will be telecast live on Star Cricket channel. The tournament begins on August 11th and will end on the 31st. A total of 24 matches will be played including the two Semis and Final with 7 teams taking part. The tournament will be held at two venues – Pallekele and R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Shukla, President- Group Strategy and Chief Brand Officer, Mahindra Group has been quoted to have said: “Sri Lanka is a strategic market for the Mahindra Group which is already an established name in the country and what better medium than cricket to connect and engage with audiences as it is the most followed sport in the sub continent with a fan base of approximately 1.5 billion fans across India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh alone.”
