Having overcome New Zealand in the ODIs, India will now look to get the better of the hosts in the T20s as well starting on February 6. The energetic Rishabh Pant is one of the promising Indian batsman to look forward to.

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, praising Pant, has called him an 'asset for the team'. “He’s an aggressive batsman and he can take away the game from the opposition in a jiffy. He’s a great asset for our team and I’m sure that he will grab this opportunity with both hands,” Dhawan was quoted as saying in Wellington, according to a Times Now report.

While Pant has done well in the Tests in the few opportunities he has got, MS Dhoni remains India's number one wicket-keeper in ODIs, especially after his performance in Australia. He would thus be hoping to succeed in the T20s.

On his own form, Dhawan said he is confident with the bat. “I feel like it’s a change of mindset and it depends on the type of wicket we are playing on. If there’s not much swing, naturally I feel that I’ve got a lot of shots to offer. That is how automatically the strike rate goes up,”

Dhawan added. “My last T20 season went really well and I’ll like to keep going with the same mindset and approach. Of course, this format demands aggressive batting and I’ll try to display it tomorrow and in the further matches.”

India are currently 2nd in ICC T20 rankings.
