India went down fighting in the rain-affected Second ODI at the Seddon Park to lose their No.1 ODI ranking to the Aussies. The tourists asked to chase down 297 from just 42 overs went onto the lose the match by a narrow margin of 15 runs.
These are still early days in the tournament, but enough games have been played for us to try and look at what some of the big buys at this year’s auction have done. Remember, some little-known names from around the cricketing world were purchased for hefty sums by major franchises even as some other well-known ones were ignored.
The IPL 6 auction threw up a few surprises, with most franchises opting for lesser-known names rather than star players. And so, while the Australian duo of Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke went for their base price, a few others were richer by an unexpected margin.
