Pakistan’s diminutive Wicket Keeper Adnan Akmal suffered a hairline fracture yesterday while handling a nasty rising delivery from Dilhara Fernando. Adnan Akmal retired hurt during the afternoon session but returned to bat again after Mohammad Sami’s wicket early in the final session on Day 1. However, Adnan Akmal couldn’t come out to do his wicket keeping duties. Scans in the evening revealed a hairline fracture on his left ring finger.
In the absence of Adnan, opener Taufeeq Umar took over as the Wicket Keeper and had difficult time conceding 10 byes in 14.4 overs. To Taufeeq’s defence, all the byes were leaked down the legside. Pakistan will have a tough time with its make shift Wicket Keeper as Adnan Akmal is unlikely to take part in the rest of the Test Match.
