South Africa won the Second and Final Test at Dubai by an innings and 92 runs on the fourth day’s play. The Proteas had to work hard for their victory as they were defied by a 197-run partnership between Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and centurion Asad Shafiq.
Needing six more wickets to wrap up the Test, South Africa had to wait till almost Tea to get their first success of the day. It came in an unlikely manner when part-timer Dean Elgar had Misbah edging a slog sweep to slip. Misbah scored 88 from 218 balls with 6 fours and a six.
Asad Shafiq helped himself to a 4th Test century, scoring 130 from 320 balls with 15 fours and a six before he was the last man dismissed, stumped off Duminy. Leggie Imran Tahir prior to that took two wickets to help SA finish the game before the close of play. Last man Zulfiqur Babar didn’t turn up to bat because of an injury. Pakistan were bowled out for 326 in 135.1 overs. Graeme Smith was the Man of the Match while AB de Villiers was the Player of the Series.
