India took an hour and 20 minutes to wrap up an 8-wicket win in the Chepauk Test. Chasing a target of 50, India took 11.3 overs to reach there with the opening batsmen – Vijay and Sehwag becoming causalities. Vijay was caught driving Pattinson uppishly to mid off while Sehwag edged a straighter one from Lyon to slip.

It was destiny that Sachin Tendulkar walked in to bat with India needing only 14 more runs to win. The Little Master clobbered his first two deliveries off Nathan Lyon for sixes to speed up the Indian victory.

A little earlier, India took 9 overs to get that last wicket of Australia with Jadeja forcing a bat pad edge off Nathan Lyon (11 from 77 balls) to shortleg with one that didn’t turn. Moises Henriques was stranded on an unbeaten 81 (from 148 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes). The last wicket pair dragged the match by 27 overs or so while adding as many as 66 runs to help Australia avoid an innings defeat.
