Team India will miss the services of regular skipper Virat Kohli for three of the four Tests in Australia. Kohli will take part in the opening Test in Adelaide, India’s first Day/Night encounter Down Under. After the conclusion of the match, Kohli will head back to India to be with wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child.

In the absence of Kohli, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane looks all set to lead the Indian team in the remaining three Tests against Australia. While a number of former cricketers have spoken out in support of Kohli’s paternity leave, they have also admitted that India will miss his services, both as captain and batsman.

In a virtual press conference facilitated by Sony, Australia’s opening batsman David Warner though opines that Rahane would bring in a fresh approach when it comes to captaincy, as he is totally opposite in nature to Kohli.

“He’s calm and very measured in his approach. He’s got a very good cricket brain,” Warner was quoted as saying by PTI.

“It’s like chalk and cheese with them two (Kohli and Rahane) and as a player to try and engage him on the field, as we’re talking about engaging, and getting into that contest as players, it’s obviously lots to think about how to do that especially with Ajinkya as captain,” he added while describing the different between the two.

“The great thing from India’s perspective is that you’ve got three if not four very good players who could captain the team at any time. With him, he’ll bring a calm and measured approach with his nature,” Warner further added.

India begin their tour of Australia with the first of the three ODIs at Sydney on November 27.
