Sunrisers Hyderabad showed how much they are reliant on their skipper David Warner. Umesh Yadav bowled Warner in the first over of the inning with an absolute beauty to give most needed breakthrough for the KKR. With Warner getting out, SRH seemed to be going nowhere and found themselves short of 35 runs as Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Garden, Kolkata.

Chasing the score of 168, SRH lost two wickets in the first over and made a very horrible start. The man in form for the Hyderabad, David Warner was sent back in dug out and then Naman Ojha too in the very same over. SRH couldn’t recover form that and lost their way in the middle. They seemed to be diminishing the difference rather than trying to chase the target. Morgan and Vihari were struggling to rotate the strike which not helped the team cause. Moises Henriques did score some runs in the middle over but was not able to match up with the required run rate. Even late onslaught from Karn Sharma was not enough for SRH to reach anywhere near KKR. In the end we have to agree that barring David Warner, SRH do not have enough power hitter to win the game for the team.

Brad Hogg was the pick of the bowler for the KKR. Batsmen seemed to be confused which ball is coming and couldn’t read him off his hand. He took two wickets including all important wicket of Shikhar Dhawan.

Earlier SRH won the toss and elected to bowl first. But the decision back fired them as Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa started their inning in flash. They didn’t spare any bowlers of the SRH. Even Dale Steyn was taken for penalty. Gautam attacked the fast bowlers with is late delicate touch especially through the leg side. But SRH introduce spinner Karn Sharma little early which resulted in the wicket of Gambhir. Out of form Manish Pandey came good today and looked to counter attack. He opened his account with a six over long off. Little misunderstanding with Doeschate resulted in downfall of Pandey. Then KKR lost some wickets quickly but Yousuf Pathan late cameo made sure that Kolkata would put a fighting total of 167 runs.

This was the fifth win for KKR in this season and they are now at third spot with 11 points
