Batting first after winning the toss, Ireland were restricted to a modest total of 140 for 8 because of Mortaza’s superb spell. None of the Irish batsmen got anything significant to speak. The top scorer for the record was opener William Porterfield, who got 28 from 22 balls.

Mashrafe MortazaBangladesh went about their chase in a cautious manner with the openers – Tamim Iqbal (39 from 37 balls with 6 fours) and Mohammad Ashraful (24 from 25 balls) putting up 62 runs in 9.2 overs. The Tigers after the steady start found themselves in trouble at 87 for 6 at the start of the 15th over. It needed a heroic cameo of 30 (from 13 balls with 4 sixes) from Mashrafe Mortaza to take Bangladesh towards victory. The Tigers just managed to sneak through with a 2-wicket win in the last ball.
