Sri Lanka have received a blow of sorts going into tomorrow’s crucial match against hosts Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground with all-rounder Farveez Maharoof laid down with a back strain. Farveez Maharoof who is making his comeback in the Sri Lankan team after a long time has had a good CB Series bowling his seamers and slowers ones with good effect. He hasn’t yet fired with the bat yet but Sri Lanka will lose his services for tomorrow’s do-or-die match against the Aussies.

Farveez Maharoof is out of action with a back strainThe Sri Lankans could bring in off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake to replace the injured Farveez Maharoof. The other option left for the Lankans is to get in the aggressive fast bowler Dhammika Prasad but they might stick with Senanayake for variety in their bowling attack. There is another bowler sitting on the bench in Chanaka Welegedara, the left-arm swing bowler who hasn’t been used in the series yet!
