Ishant, Dhawan help Sunrisers upset Mumbai Indians

Sunrisers Hyderabad eased to a 7-wicket win with two full overs to spare over a strong Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium this evening. It was a victory that was set up by the quality bowling attack for the hosts while Shikhar Dhawan has given a serious boost to its batting to guide them past the target comfortably.

Sunrisers Hyderabad eased to a 7-wicket win with two full overs to spare over a strong Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium this evening. It was a victory that was set up by the quality bowling attack for the hosts while Shikhar Dhawan has given a serious boost to its batting to guide them past the target comfortably. Sunrisers with this have collected their sixth win in 10 matches. Mumbai Indians on the other hand have suffered their fourth defeat in 10 matches.

Mumbai Indians batting first lost Tendulkar after a couple of good hits from the veteran. Tendulkar had his stumps shattered by an inducker from Ishant and the former like always acted as if the ball had stayed very low. The in-form Dinesh Karthik was dismissed for a duck by Ishant after the batsman was too early in his drive.

Skipper Rohit Sharma scored a run-a-ball 22 before he holed out to long off. Dwayne Smith worked hard for his 38 which came in 40 balls and was wrongly given out lbw off Amit Mishra in an attempted sweep that hit the glove and then rolled onto the pad.

Mumbai Indians from a poor position of 79 for 4 in 12.5 overs ended up with a modest total of 129 for 4. Kieron Pollard struggled to get going to score 14* from 19 balls while it was AT Rayudu who got some momentum going with his 34* from 27 balls.

For the Sunrisers, Ishant bowled a great spell of 4-1-15-2 and was well complemented by the other bowlers. Sunrisers did not make much fuss about the target thanks to the superb batting display from Shikhar Dhawan. Skipper Sangakkara scored a run-a-ball 21 to support Dhawan. Hanuman Vihari (23) sealed the match after that by almost staying till the distance with Dhawan who remained unbeaten with a classy 73 from 55 balls with 9 fours and a six.
