Off spinner Gareth Batty’s four-wicket haul helped Surrey to a 28-run win over Middlesex in a rain-affected South Group Match in Friends Life t20 2012 at Lord’s on Thursday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Surrey recovered from a poor position of 32 for 4 to put up 149 for 4. Matthew Spriegel (53* from 46 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes) and Gary Wilson (54* from 40 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes) led the fightback for Surrey with a superb 117-run unbroken stand.

The second half of the match was halted by rain with Middlesex struggling at 99 for 8 in 16 overs which was 28 runs short of the D/L par score. For Middlesex, the top scorer was Paul Stirling, who scored 36 from 23 balls with 5 fours and a six. Gareth Batty was the star of the match taking 4 for 13 in 4 overs.
