Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has lamented that the team’s 2011 World Cup loss to India in the semi-finals in Mohali still haunts him. According to the 46-year-old, although he was deemed unfit, he feels he should have played the match since he had shown enough signs of being ready in the warm-ups.

Pakistan coach Saqlain Mushtaq has asserted that the hosts will push for a result in the final Test against Australia, which begins on Monday, March 21. The Australian selectors on Tuesday named a full-strength squad for its first Pakistan tour since 1998. The Aussies will play three Tests in Pakistan from March 4 during their historic visit. The Tests are slated to be held in Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore. The tour will be played at the back of the Justin Langer resignation saga. The coach stepped down from his role recently despite Australia claiming the Ashes 4-0. Andrew McDonald has been appointed interim coach for the Pakistan series.

The one-day series between Pakistan and West Indies, which was scheduled to held after the T20I series which ended on Thursday, has been postponed and will now be played in June 2022. The decision was taken after five more members of the West Indies touring party, including players Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein and Justin Greaves, tested positive for COVID-19. On arrival in Karachi, Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase and Kyle Mayers had also tested COVID-19 positive
