Ruhuna Eleven managed to hold their nerves to overcome Leicestershire by four runs to keep their chances alive of making it to the main draw of CLT20.

Ruhuna Eleven managed to hold their nerves to overcome Leicestershire by four runs to keep their chances alive of making it to the main draw of CLT20.

Chasing 161, the English champions managed 156 for eight in their allotted 50 overs.

Leicestershire got off to a breezy start scoring 30 runs in the first two overs.

The Sri Lankan champions struck immediately to break the opening partnership.

Opener Abdul Razzaq continued plundering runs as he stitched a 42 to run partnership with skipper Andrew McDonald.

But once McDonald departed, Ruhuna clawed their way back into the match.

Razzaq, with some big hits kept the English champions on course to victory, but wickets kept on falling at the other end.

With run-rate increasing every passing over, Razzaq succumbed to the pressuring as he was dismissed for 68.

In the end, the Lankan champions held the nerve to snatch a win.

Earlier, DineshChandimal scored his seventh half-century in T20 to help Ruhuna Eleven to 160 for six.

Ruhuna got off to a jittery start losing two quick wickets for mere 17 runs. Chandimal then along with Kushal Perera got down to repairing the innings.

Just when the Sri Lankan team looked set for a big score, Abdul Razzak struck with two wickets ti have Ruhuna reeling at 67 for four.

Chandimal then added 44 and 41 runs for the fifth and the sixth wicket with Siriwardana and Karunanayake to take his team to a respectable total.

Harry Gurney was the pick of the bowlers for Leicestershire with figures of three for 26.
