News and Score Update of Haryana Vs Rajasthan, Day 1, 1st Semi-Final at Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium, Rohtak

It was a shocking opening day’s play in the First Ranji Trophy 2011/12 Semi-Final between Haryana and Rajasthan at the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli, Rohtak with as many as 18 wickets going down! The batsmen on either sides were tortured by the pacers on a lively pitch as both defending Champions Rajasthan and Haryana failed to reach even three figures. Haryana still has a chance to cross the 100-run mark as it has got two wickets in hand.

The match is sensationally poised with Haryana at 82 for 8 in reply to Rajasthan’s 89 all out! Earlier in the day, Amit Mishra won the toss as Haryana asked Rajasthan to bat first. Rajasthan got bundled out in 36.1 overs with India U19 pacer Harshal Patel claiming dream figures of 8 for 34! The top scorer for Rajasthan was opener Vineet Saxena who made 32. Only two other batsman managed to get into double figures for the defending champions.

Haryana in their first innings were at a sorry 12 for 5 and by stumps were only slightly better at 82 for 8 in 41 overs! The hosts are still trailing by 7 runs which looks like some distance to go considering the amazingly low scores the teams have managed today! The top scorer for Haryana came from Jayant Yadav who got 23 facing 61 balls. Tall fast bowler Pankaj Singh took two wickets but the real damage was done by the in-form 21-year-old medium pacer Rituraj Singh who picked up five wickets. This match could be over tomorrow on Day 2 if the same trend continues!
