The third and final ODI at Margao has been officially called off without a single ball bowled

Update at 12:55 PM

The third and final ODI at Margao has been officially called off without a single ball bowled! It was rather surprising that there wasn't any action possible despite the rain staying away for more than six hours and with the sun shining all the time! Perhaps the ground has had enough pounding from the rains in the last few days leading upto today and the drainage system here is substandard according to the reports. It is a huge disappointment for the spectators who have turned up in decent numbers and waiting anxiously for some cricket since atleast 8:30 AM!

It is a pity that these as such short series of 3 ODIs has ended up with India winning 1-0 because of two matches abandoned without a single ball bowled!

Update at 11:10 AM

The news is that there has been persistent sun shine on the ground. The Umpires just had an inspection and things have certainly improved. Perhaps another hour of sunshine could make the ground perfectly fit for the match to get underway. The official word from the Umpires is that the next inspection is at 12:15 PM.

Update at 9:00 AM

The Match Referee has decided that the next ground inspection will be at 11:00 AM. Around three hours of proper sunshine is expected to be the minimum for the ground to dry up significantly.

Update at 8:10 AM IST, 24th Oct

The third and final ODI at the Nehru Stadium in Margao will be off to a delayed start due to wet outfield conditions caused by overnight rain. Although the sun is shining brightly as of now, there is plenty of water on the covers along with some wet patches on the outfield. The weather forecast is for more showers for the day.
