The Australian skipper of Rajasthan Royals, Shane Warne, has been fined $50, 000 for breaching the IPL’s code of conduct and abusing the secretary of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), Sanjay Dixit.
The penalty has been imposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, the legend willlead the team in their last game of IPL-4.
After analyzing the explanations from both the parties, the commission, comprising of Chirayu Amin and Ravi Shastri, has decided to allow Warne to play the last game with the condition that he pays the fine.
Warne misbehaved with Dixit in public after losing a crucial game to Royal Challengers Bangalore at Jaipur, on Wednesday, May 11.
A complaint against Warne’s act was lodged with the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) managing committee.
During the post-match presentation ceremony at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, the angry Warne lashed out on Dixit, blaming him from not providing an appropriate ground to play.
As per reports, Dixit expressed some concerns about Warn and company’s performance. In turn, Warne started outpouring venom.
Some sources revealed that Warne was not satisfied with the pitch that was used for last two games against Chennai Super Kings and Bangalore. He had expressed his reservations many times and even asked the Rajasthan managers to change the venue but his opinion held no water.
Warne has been leading the side since the first edition of the IPL. Under Warne’s meticulous leadership,Rajasthan claimed the IPL title in 2008.
Rajasthan holds 7th position with 11 points. The team has lost the chances to qualify for the play-offs. However, they have to play their last fill-up game yet.
Analysts suggest that it will probably be the legend’s last match since Warne intends to quit cricket after the league.
Warne is not happy with the treatment he has been meted out in India. He considers this experience to be the worst one in his long cricket career.
