Final Session
Bangladesh finished the first day's play of the 2nd Test at a healthy looking 234 for 5 in 68 overs. Former Skipper Shakib Al Hasan who registered his 2nd Test century remained unbeaten on 108 (from 168 balls with 14 fours). Shakib now has the Skipper MushfiqurRahim (5*) at the crease to try and stretch the total further.
The final session also belonged to Bangladesh as ShahriarNafees and Shakib Al Hasan wrested control over the proceedings. Just after Shakib Al Hasahn had got to a century, ShahriarNafees who was inching towards the magic three-figure was forced to glove a nasty riisng delivery from UmarGul to the keeper. Nafees fell for 97 which came in 177 balls with 12 fours. His partnership with Shakib was worth 180 runs in 51 overs which rescued Bangladesh from a pathetic position of 43 for 4.
Bad light at the start of the play and also at the end of it ensured that 22 overs were lost in the opening day.

Afternoon Session

Bangladesh had a perfectly solid afternoon session as they did not lose a single wicket and in the process collected 100 runs to move onto 153 for 4 in 44 overs. ShahriarNafees has got to 66* from 112 balls with 8 fours while Shakib Al Hasan eased to 63* from 104 balls with 10 fours. The Pakistanis struggled to extract anything off the pitch for both the pacers and the spinners.

Morning Session

Pacer AizazCheema wrecked the Bangladeshi top order in what was a curtailed morning session on Day 1. Hosts Bangladesh at lunch are struggling at 54 for 4 in 19 overs. ShahriarNafees, the no.3 is still there in the middle and is looking good with an unbeaten 24 (from 44 balls with 3 fours). He has got Shakib Al Hasan at the other end batting on 9* (from 22 balls).
It was a poor start for the Tigers with opener Nazimuddin (0) offering no shot and padding up to an indipper from Cheema in the 2nd over. The Umpire gave it out lbw but replauys certainly showed that the ball could have climbed over the top of the stumps. The other opener TamimIqbal (14) hooked an UmarGul bouncer to long leg to perish in the 7th over. Mahmudullah, who got promoted at no.4 got cleaned up on the backfoot by a Cheema delivery which jagged back through the gate. The last wicket to fall before lunch was that of NasirHossain (7) who was forced to edge a Cheema delivery to the keeper on the backfoot.
